A lazy day...

After all our outings on Friday we were absolutely shattered on Saturday. So decided to take it easy. We had a sleep in, went shopping - went to Maceys but am sad to say I didn't enjoy it! It was too big, there wasn't an overall map and it was hard to find what you wanted. Also they seemed to have the same designers/brands on different floors. But I did love some nearby shops - Sephora (lots of make up brands) and Forever 21 which was brilliant. I wouldn't say the clothes were dirt cheap but definitely got some bargains. I think the really plain t shirts, vest tops were cheap - $2 each but typically I didn't want anything like that :p James was happy with the American hennes. We had dinner at this lovely french restaurant near our hotel which had excellent steak but I didn't take any photos as it was quite dimly lit!

I want to be a part of it...

So our first full day in New York. We decided to walk when we could which meant we saw lots of sights but ended with us both feeling exhausted. Still a jam packed day.

Helicopter tour
This was great and meant we also heard some of the history of New York. The guys working there all teased me (Is it because I'm english/ginger?) i had one stroke my bum by accident (?). We were surprised at how small the statue of liberty was compared to the rest of the architecture. I felt very dizzy afterwards.

 

Broadway show
We saw Chicargo which starred Christine Brinkley (the super model who starred in Billy Joel's 'Uptown Girl' video. It was great, great with the american accents and we were only a few rows from the front. And this was our first experience of the subway - we're staying in the Downtown area.

Eat
In the book/film 'Eat pray and love' when the main character visits Italy she eats tons hence the 'eat' part of the title. Well New York has been our equivilent - we haven't stopped eating and the portions are huge - I'm ashamed to say we haven't let anything go to waste.
Brekkie: A diner where I had blueberry pancakes with a bottomless syrup jug, james had ham, eggs, home fries and rye bread.

 

 

 

Lunch: Amazing pizzas from this italian place in 'Little Italy' where they had a stone oven. Starter were olives and brucetta with gorgonzola, pear and honey. And we had Bards wheat-free beer which was nice.

 

 

Dinner: At midnight!! We got some Mexican food to take away which was lovely - I had veggie quesodillas with a guocmole, rice, salad and chick pea stew. James had a beef buritto. They weren't spicy (which was fine by me) but James was a bit disappointed.
